Welcome to the 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games 2009 Party
What an event to have in our own backyard! An elite winter sports competition that brings together the world's best athletes to a location with world class winterfacilities set in thisstunning and accessible region. It's not that we ever need a reason to have a party here in New Zealand but this seems like a great opportunity to show the world how we do it. Because the Winter Games action doesn't finish when it gets dark - beyond the snow and ice is a festival of all things that bring us together to enjoy each others company, laugh, dance and try something new. This year's gig guide is jam-packed with great music acts such as Rhombus, Ladi 6, TikiTaane and Little Bushman. Comedians such as Millen Baird, Brendhan Lovegrove and Lyndsay Webb take the stage. We have family days, break-dancing competitions, hula hoop lessons and horizontal bungy. You can even try out snow-kitting and watch Skijoring during our festival demonstration sports.
Thank you to everyone who is hosting an event in the guide, to all our sponsors for making this possible, and most importantly to you, the people who never hold back from throwing yourself into a party and making it what it is. You can pick up a copy of the gig guide at the Queenstown and Wanaka Post Office or at the Winter Games office in the Resort College, Queenstown. We will also be handing them out during the Welcome Ceremony in Earnslaw Park.
The Winter Games Welcome Ceremony will be held on Friday 21August at Earnslaw Park and the Closing Ceremony on Sunday 30th August at Coronet Peak. Don't miss these spectacular events as we use land, lake, sky and snow as a backdrop to some truly spectacular stunts.
